Born to Thrive

Sheldon Universe, a dynamic and versatile performer, producer, and show creator, has been captivating audiences since the age of 2, performing Michael Jackson's "Beat It" at family gatherings. A multi-instrumentalist trained in voice, piano, drums, and dance, Sheldon has cultivated a passion for show production and excels in engaging audiences through his artistry.

Hailing from a family of musicians, Sheldon’s musical journey began early, guided by the influence of his grandfather, Maurice Concessio, India’s legendary big-band leader. His parents also ran The Entertainers and founded The Concessio School of Music in Toronto, where Sheldon honed his skills.

Sheldon is an alumnus of St. Michael’s Choir School, where he began his formal training in classical voice and piano. He furthered his studies in jazz drums through Humber College’s prestigious jazz program. These early experiences laid the foundation for Sheldon’s successful career in music and entertainment.

A Life of Touring and Performance

By the age of 16, Sheldon was the drummer in his family’s band, and by 18, he became a session drummer. His career took off with performances on Carnival Cruise Lines, leading to tours in Europe with Latin Recording Artist Alex Bello and collaborations with Grammy and Juno Award-winning artists. Among his many career highlights, Sheldon performed as a solo pianist at billionaire Warren Buffett’s birthday celebration.

The California Dream and Beyond

At 21, Sheldon pursued his dream of visiting California in hopes of connecting with key figures in the music industry. There, he met celebrity vocal coach Romeo Johnson, who toured with Michael and Janet Jackson. Sheldon also explored opportunities in Las Vegas but ultimately chose to return to Toronto, where he managed The Brampton Conservatory of Music and later became a dance accompanist at Unionville High School and Ryerson University.

Drumming for the Toronto Raptors and Community Outreach

Sheldon’s drumming career expanded through collaborations with Team Rhythm Works, a dynamic duo that performed at over 300 schools and on TEDx Talks. The duo, featuring former STOMP member Troy Sexton, used everyday objects to create rhythm-based performances. They also worked with Unity Charity and Blueprint Pathways to bring music to youth prisons. Sheldon later joined The 6ix Stix, the official drummers for the Toronto Raptors.
